KUALA LUMPUR – The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), YB Senator Dato’ Setia Dr. Haji Mohd Na’im bin Haji Mokhtar, officially launched the Soul Journey Carnival for Asnaf Youth, held in conjunction with the 50th anniversary celebration of the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP).
The carnival, held for the first time in collaboration with the Baitulmal Professional College Kuala Lumpur (KPBKL), saw significant participation from a diverse range of community, including asnaf youth, representatives from the corporate sector, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
A wide range of engaging activities were held throughout the event, including motivational sessions, sports competitions, e-sports tournaments, and exhibition booths from agencies and companies under MAIWP.
During the event, a symbolic cheque in the amount of RM699,350.00 was presented to KPBKL. The contribution included zakat wakalah, educational tools, and the development of new infrastructure, such as computer labs.
MAIWP also allocated a zakat fund of RM19.85 million for 2024 to support students at KPBKL in pursuing their studies across various fields.
Launched in 2023, the Soul Journey program aims to cultivate self-identity and provide religious and familial foundations for asnaf youth, particularly those in the People’s Housing Projects (PPR) areas of Kuala Lumpur.
The event was also attended by the Chairman of MAIWP, YBhg. Tuan Haji Syed Kamarulzaman bin Syed Kabeer, MAIWP Council Member YBhg. Tuan Haji Zuri Zabuddin bin Budiman, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MAIWP, YBhg. Datuk Mohd Nizam bin Haji Yahya, and the Chief Executive Officer of KPBKL, YBhg. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hj. Mohammad Firdaus Low bin Abdullah.
